Lyon Equipment will showcase a new range of ORTLIEB waterproof bags at CIN LIVE 2026, featuring the brand’s new proprietary TIDURA® fabric.
Developed and manufactured by GDS, ORTLIEB’s sister company based next to its production facility in Heilsbronn, Germany, TIDURA is a PVC-free, TPU-coated woven fabric. The move gives ORTLIEB greater control over the material used in its bags, with the company stating that it is unusual for a waterproof bag manufacturer to produce its own fabric through the full process from weaving to coating.
The first products to use TIDURA comprise four models. These include the new Daypack 23L, alongside updated versions of the Back-Roller Zip-Pocket, Duffle Zip in 40L and 60L capacities and Velocity 23L.
TIDURA is available in two versions. TIDUR strong is designed for maximum abrasion and tear resistance, targeting travel, heavy loads and demanding everyday use. TIDURA core offers a balance between weight and durability, aimed at urban commuting and general-purpose use.
The material has been developed specifically for ORTLIEB’s high-frequency (HF) welding process. Rather than relying on stitched seams, the construction uses welded joins to reduce potential points for water ingress. This forms part of ORTLIEB’s repair-first approach, with replacement parts available for at least 10 years after a product leaves the company’s collection and a five-year product warranty.
According to ORTLIEB, TIDURA has a tensile strength of 2,400 N and has been tested to more than 100,000 Martindale abrasion cycles. The material and welded seams are also tested to a 100,000 mm water column rating.
Water and dust protection varies according to the individual product, with TIDURA bags carrying different IP ratings. These include IP67 protection for products designed to withstand full submersion of up to 1m for 30 minutes, IP64 protection against heavy rain and splash water, and IP53 protection against spray and internal dust build-up.
